Bob & Babe

Bob Coscarelli our resident photographer created a tribute series to the house and it’s previous owners Dr. Robert and Amelia Frost. The Frost’s were better known at home and to family and close friends as ‘Bob’ and ‘Babe’. The series was shot one Autumn Day in September 2019, it involved a team of people: Brandon Frein Wardrobe Stylists + Debbie Jacks Hair & Make-Up Stylist + Sabrina Jurlina as Babe + JJ Banicki as Bob.

Lisa Perry & Frost House Inspiration

Just reminiscing about that time you are scrolling Instagram in bed – and a girlfriend tags you in a post and you – squeal a little – because a design Icon has utilized your house for inspiration of one of her projects. Back in July 2019, Lisa Perry shared with the world her inspiration for the pool in a Palm Beach, FL home she designed [and sold for $9.1 million]. Lisa Perry (mid-west girl from Chicago) is the queen of color pop, her work is so fun, playful and total eye candy. This interview and Dwell article really shows the house off.

Here is the instagram post – where you can see the Frost house in the design inspiration for this pool wall. We were so floored to see the house being used for this incredibly beautiful house. We admire her fashion design, and are now even bigger fans of her home design work too. If you want some eye candy on your coffee table – get her book.

Eye Eaters Dinner Party

It has finally landed, the wonderful short story of the Eye Eater Event that was held at the Frost House this summer. There are SOOOO many people to thank for making this happen .. here we go:

And a HUGE thanks to all the people that attended and were so respectful and thoughtful when enjoying our home. We really enjoyed meeting so many people, some traveled long distances to attend too – we are honored.

Join in the fun next time! Follow @eyeeaters to see what crazy new and exciting events they are bringing to a location near you.

Florence Knoll – 101

We have been celebrating the life of Florence Marguerite Knoll Bassett over here at the Frost House, and we couldn’t think of a better way to do so than to FINALLY purchase the outdoor furniture we have always wanted for the pool deck. With a house filled room-to-room with Knoll furniture it was an easy decision really. So coming soon we will be adding a few pieces designed by Richard Schultz from his 1966 Collection [see below].

They will be going on the right had side of the pool deck to provide more seating for cocktail hour. Now that this purchase has drained our garden budget for 2019, it is back to saving our pennies in the hopes to replace the lounge chairs in 2020. We are keeping our eye on the prize, to make it all knoll #knollfordays.

We have been on the hunt for vintage pieces, and we have 4 lounges that we found on our back patio, off the guest bedrooms – but we could never find a large enough collection in matching colors to fit our pool. Bring on the delivery, and bring on summer so we can get out there and cocktail again – this time in comfort – and to toast a few to the legend – Florence Knoll.

For more on Florence, and to get the 101: on her connection to the Frost House head over here, & over here; to learn about her life – Knoll has a lovely tribute to ‘Shu’ that you can read here.

Soho House + Grey Goose Pool Party

We had a wonderful time partnering with Soho House Chicago and with our party sponsor Grey Goose hosting a summer soiree with Soho House Members. Everyone got to enjoy a private tour of the home and then sat down to a BBQ feast served family style on the back lawn. In between tours and feasting there were plenty of Grey Goose – Vodka cocktails served. Guest enjoyed their cocktails with some croquet of the lawn, swimming + lounging by the pool, meanwhile we soaked in and admired the serious display of period appropriate attire [caftans + turbans], we love even more that some brought, and made, wardrobe changes. If only every Saturday in summer had a soiree like this, we will just keep dreaming and in the meantime will share some of our favorite photos from the event.

Point-in-time: August 2018

At this time of the year we get to wake up to these amazing views out the front windows. All it takes is some rain + humidity + sun + mother nature. We can stare at these scenes all-day, but they only last a few short hours at best. It is always great way to start your day.

Here are a few others from last season, around the same time of year. It is fun learning the seasonal changes of the house and garden.
