And of course, Banksy gets his fair share of the limelight. After all, he is the good looking one of the family.

It never gets old, even if it is incredibly cold, but watching snow fall on this house from: the outside-in; or the inside-out it, is magical. Someone asked, how  much snow the flat-roof can manage, and we did a little digging into the sales materials we have. Apparently, the roof is engineered and tested to withstand 84 pounds per square foot, which means the roof can manage up to 5 feet of wet snow.

We were curious to see how the new fence was going to hold-up in the extreme temperatures. So far it is doing great, it has withstood incredibly high winds, excessive rain, and now snow and temperatures that haven’t been above freezing point for weeks on end. We are giving the ‘polycarbonate’ material the ‘thumbs-up’.

And of course we couldn’t have a photo shoot without Banksy in a picture or two.

Well it just goes to show that these Alside prefabricated homes, of which there were 22 models to select from, and were granted a patent in 1962 have stood the test of time. Dwell have started to compile their ‘Top Ten’ lists for 2017, and we were blown away to see our little house listed as #1. See the whole article here.

Snow Day

_COS6704

Snow Day. We were so excited for Mother Nature to return for another blanket of snow, it was welcomed in our house, we had missed it this winter. There is nothing better than a dusting of snow to create the perfect back-drop for the architecture of the house. None-the-less it needs to be cleared, but the leaf blower was not exactly a great idea, so out came the snow-blower, I guess the name should have made us wiser.

Pure magic. We couldn’t wait to see what the house looked like under a blanket of deep fluffy snow, and we were not disappointed. With floor to ceiling glass panels, the snow gently piled up the sides, and as we sat toasty warm inside feeling like we were in a snow globe.

Banksy our dog was also delighted at the experience, after all snow is his favorite form of weather. It was hard to keep him inside.

Oh! don’t mind out new fence, we will be painting it black in the spring and adding new plantings to the garden beds, planning is in the works.

Although we love the garden, and enjoying time in the screened porch – what we call the ‘aviary’, we really were hoping for a few more snow days than what we have received two far this season. Bring back our ‘snow globe effect’ – just one more time – pleeeease!
